Giglierano Transitional/Classical “Cramer” Model Violin Bow – Katalox and Ebony
$1,700.00
Transitional/Classical style bow made by Nathan Giglierano in 2023 from Katalox and Ebony.
The “Cramer” style bow, named for Wilhelm Cramer the violinist that popularized it, has a longer stick than baroque models and a hatchet or battle axe shaped head. This type of bow was all the rage between 1760 and 1785, though it’s likely that musicians were still using them years later. It is lighter than the modern Tourte bow, and perfectly designed for spiccato.
Katalox, sometimes called Mexican Ebony, is a fantastic bow wood, with many properties similar to Pernambuco.
