Giglierano Personal Model Violin (Z model, 2021)

Violin made by Nathan Giglierano in 2021. This violin is built on Nathan’s “Z” form, a personal model created for beautiful sound and increased playability. Made from the finest Englemann Spruce and European Curly Maple. This violin is fitted with Perfection Planetary Geared pegs, which increase tuning stability in difficult climates, and are incredibly easy to use.

The Z model body is slightly smaller than most modern violins, with quickly sloping shoulders. This makes getting into higher positions easier. Despite the smaller body size, the violin’s sound is dark and warm. This is achieved by using the best possible materials and using a model that was drafted using harmonic principles.

Historically, violins came in many shapes and sizes. With a body length of 351 mm, this violin is on the smaller side of what is considered historically to be full size (which is these days considered to be 355 mm, with 7/8 size being ~348 mm). The Z model is the same size as Guarneri Del Gesu’s Plowden – which is a famous example of his work.
