Nathan Giglierano – Luthier
Nathan Giglierano (jee-lee-ur-ah-no) is a maker of violins, violas, and historical bows in Madison, Wisconsin. Nathan is also a conservatory-trained violinist with years of professional experience as a player and teacher, giving him a unique understanding of what advanced students and professionals need from their instruments to give their best performances.
For the past several years, Nathan has decided to make mainly instruments of his own design instead of copying historical instruments. He uses design principles based on the harmonic ratios found in music, in a process similar to the old Cremonese masters. His personal model violas are especially popular and are designed for maximum tone in a playable package.
Nathan’s historical bows are played across the country. He makes bows for both violin and viol family instruments.
Nathan is an avid performer of early music (especially of the Italian baroque), and plays with several period-instrument ensembles in Madison. Learn more about his performing career at https://nathangiglierano.com/biography/
